My Parents' Celebration of 25 Years of Marriage (behind the scenes)

some people have been asking me why i came home this holiday when i was only going to be around for 3 weeks. simply put, i came home for my parents' 25th wedding anniversary (celebration - which was on 10 dec).

was supposed to be the organiser for the event, but me being in a different country meant that a lot of the ground work like getting the venue and catering, the invitations, programme and thank you cards (plus gifts) were done by my mom and dad. but i did the arrangement of stuff like the reception, photography, worship and the general running of things on the day.

anyway moon came to my place on friday and we set out making a huge sign to be propped up on an easel. we mixed glitter with white glue in those plastic sandwich bags, snipped a hole at the end and piped it out (similar to how cream and icing are done on a cake) onto a huge mounting board.

started with pencilling the words so we could follow the outline... then pipping on the glitter...

moon mixing glue and glitter...

see how crusty the glitter was!

SHINY SHINY SHINY!
the final project! (on the left is the guest book we were making with mounting board, store-bought handmade paper, pretty A4 paper and black and white photos)
the morning of the event was spent tying sprigs of flowers to the thank you gifts (boxes of organice tea from M&S), adding the ribbons and using a pair of scissors to curl the tails... and in the process getting a sore thumb. :( my mom did a table arrangement of flowers for the reception table (since we expected that what they were providing would JUST be a table) and then rushed off to the venue!

the event went smoothly (YAY) and the guests all said they enjoyed themselves. it was so nice to see so many of my parents' old friends all at one event and it was FANTASTIC catching up with them.

THANK YOU TRICIA AND JOYCE AND MOON! you guys really helped sooooo much.

to Tricia: thank you for coming down from KL to help with the worship. IT WAS GOOOD!

to Joyce: thhhaaaannnkksss for taking pictures! and hope you are enjoying the pulut hitam!

to Moon: xie xie lao shi min! ni hao BANG! thanks for all the fun we had with the glitter and for all the laughs we shared during the last 2 days!

will continue with a post about the event itself when i get the pictures from joyce! :)
