moving home (part 1)

there is a sense of finality when you pack all the stuff you are taking home into boxes and suitcases. the 3 boxes of stuff i am shipping home were collected on Friday and so now there is an empty spot in the house where they used to sit. next is packing suitcases as my family is coming next week and are graciously (not that they really have an option) taking some of my belongings home first.

last night while talking to my mom i was looking up some temp jobs/work experience i could get while i job hunt and it took quite a bit to get used to looking for a job that was more than just a summer filler. the annoying thing of working in Singapore is because i didnt study there, i dont have a foot in the door (through placements and stuff) and graduate schemes are something they havent seem to have discovered so a lot of jobs i am interested in require loads of relevant experience (several years) which i dont have (i think i've got about a year when everything is consolidated).

moving home also means no more (almost-)daily MSN conversations with family back home. even though it can sometimes be exhausting (case in point: last night i had a 4-way conversation with my parents and my brother and everyone joined at different points so i had to repeat myself a lot), it has come to add to my overseas experience. but then moving home means actual random conversations with family so i guess it is a step up...
