Lars von Trier and last-week-of-term pensiveness

Watching Dancer In The Dark (2000) yesterday and today [the projector broke down yesterday in the last 20mins of the film! i was SOOOOO plagued by it because it was near the climax of the film] and started to think about Dogme films and was reminded of Forbrydelsens element (1984) which i watched with iain and paul last term. Lars von Trier is a very innovative director and his use of the camera is very effective in conveying emotions. so applause to him.

digital cameras seem to work well with Festen (1998), another Dogme film [a group of Danish directors werent pleased with the direction that film-making was going so they got together and signed a manifesto saying they will make films that arent all sugar-coated and not edited to look pretty] and i was wondering whether Dancer In The Dark would have looked nicer on celluloid rather than on digital film. like jose said, digital cameras seem to make images look very 2-D.

just now my darling called me while i was at the supermarket and as i have catherine deneuve singing "i will wait for you" as my ring tone, i got quite a shock hearing it ring really loudly in my bag. :) so that song got into my head and bjork's "i have seen it all" was still fresh in memory. the 2 songs made me get all pensive and i started to have my last week of term pensiveness again. had it last term and didnt think i'd have be as depressed as i was last term. but i started to think about all that has happened this term and had a tinge of missing home and my darling... you know what? So much has happened since i came to warwick. i feel like i have gone through so much and had so many good and not-so-good experiences. would i have grown up so much if i had stayed in SMU? i'm not sure...
