it suddenly feels like Christmas

on Tuesday, the student cell group in church organised a Christmas dinner which was lovely - it's amazing how they managed to change one of the rooms into a cosy dining area that was decorated to look like the QE2.
(that's me and lynn! the lack of pictures of food and decorations is due to the fact that my camera is dying)

but when everyone was singing Christmas carols, it just felt strange. strange to be singing about Christmas in November.

yesterday, however, i went to Coventry City Centre to buy some gifts and it suddenly felt like Christmas! they had a huge tree display in the middle of the shopping street and little stalls made to look like miniature Nordic/Germanic village houses selling crepes, huge sausages, candy, crafts and beer. at 4pm the sky grew dark and the streets got emptier and it really did feel like winter. As the bus rode into Leamington Spa last night (I went there for a Tap social. WHOOHOO!), the streets were glowing with Christmas lights and like a small child I was enthralled by the window displays in the stores along the Parade.

it felt like Christmas. in every sense of the story-book type.
