what i have learnt from the last 3 films i watched this week
Look Back In Anger (film version of the John Osbourne play)
- Naturalist playwrights like to have their female protagonists playact as squirrels for their husbands' entertainment [think Nora in Ibsen's A Doll's House]
Senso (Italian melodramma - melodramma, which is Italian, is a synonym for opera)
- Men are only after your money
- Never scorn a woman because she will get you shot by your own army
The Life of Emile Zola
- always leave the window open so you will not die from carbon monoxide poisoning while writing your book (i.e. never be afraid that a draft will kill you because fate has a sense of humour)
