the old charms of Malacca inside the shops...
...and out on the street. in some ways Malacca reminds me of Singapore in the 1960s (or perhaps a Katong that stopped changing in the 1980s), yet it also seems to be a more modern version of Laos, except that Laos is cleaner (i attribute it to Communism). the quaint little shops... the dusty and uneven roads... the mosaic tiles on the 5-foot ways...
pretty street lights on the way back to the hotel from dinner at the Teochew place... looks like the sort of lights you'd get around Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa or Deepavali (except perhaps circa 1980?).


we had loads of free time waiting around and feeling sian... waiting for the FREE shuttle to Makhota Parade...





and back to the hotel after there REALLY was nothing to do there...
