while waiting excitedly for our chicken rice ball lunch on day 2, decided to diffuse all that hyper-ness by taking pictures of my family (without them knowing... hahaha...!)

BEHOLD! OUR LUNCH!
looooook at the chilli! OOoOOoooO... :)
we had lotus root soup as well... packed with chicken feet and peanuts too...
the chicken was rather nice, though not as tender as much brother would have liked it. we all agreed the soup was good because it was jam-packed with flavour. i liked the oily texture of the stir-fried mixed vegetables. the rice was cold (because they made them into balls but somehow i like my rice pipping hot...) but still yummy... the chilli was mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... :)

for dinner we went to the Teochew restaurant that my parents said WE HAVE TO EAT AT WHEN IN MALACCA. and i can see why... when we got there, we got scolded for not making a reservation (well, we couldnt help it! when we went past on monday we saw they closed on mondays so we couldnt get a number). SO PLEASE MAKE A RESERVATION IF AND WHEN YOU GO!
we were given chopped red chilli in some salty bean sauce thingy and chopped garlic (to mix as a dip), and the customary plate of peanuts...

in traditional chinese fashion, we had place our order ONLY with the big boss (the old man owner) and he dictated how much was enough for you (i.e. not allow you to order more than he believed you could finish).

first up was noodles with oysters...
then came the steamed fish with salted veg, chilli, sour plum mushrooms... the soup on the dish was soooooo nice....
stir fried kailan... loads of garlic and oyster sauce... OoooOOo...
STEAMED CRAB! mmmmmmmm... see the HUGE pincer?
and the the egg white and crab roe.... GORGEOUS!
then we had their SPECIALITY - SUCKLING PIG!
and their famous yam paste with gingko nuts and pumpkin (orh nee)... SUPER GOOD STUFF!
6 STARS! FANTASTIC FOOD! :)
